You can position your emergency button in any room you'd like. Before you make your decision though, make sure you think about the most likely places where your senior might fall.
When the button gets pressed a red light will blink to show that Jane was contacted. Jane will contact the care circle by sending them an sms and push notification to make them aware of this event.
Personal Button
It's good for your senior to have one button close at all time. One of the buttons comes with a lanyard which can be used to carry the button with them. Give the personal button with lanyard to your senior and ask them to press it when there is an emergency.
Bedroom
One of the places where a senior is very likely to fall is in the bedroom. More specifically when they are trying to enter or get out of bed. While you position the sensor, ask the senior to join you. Talk about their morning and evening routine in their bedroom and try and determine what the most likely place is they would fall.
Either place the button on the night stand on the side of the bed or hang it against the wall. The latter can be done using the double-sided tape. If you use the tape, try and stick it to a surface that would not peel away with the button if you decide to remove it.
Tip: Re-enact a fall and see if you can reach the button easily. You want your senior to able to reach the button comfortably in case they fall.
Bathroom
Another place where a senior is likely to fall is in the bathroom. Getting in or out of the shower or tub. While you position the sensor, ask the senior to join you. Talk about their bathroom routine and try and determine what the most likely place is they would fall or slip.
Hang the button against a wall or the tub. This can be done using the double-sided tape. If you use the tape, try and stick it to a surface that would not peel away with the button if you decide to remove it. Don't be afraid to place the button in the shower or close to a wet source. The buttons are water-proof.
Tip: Re-enact a fall and see if you can reach the button easily. You want your senior to able to reach the button comfortably in case they fall.
Other Rooms
You can place your buttons anywhere you want in the house. Keep in mind a few ground rules:
- Make sure the senior can reach the button when they fall.
- Place the button on location the senior falls or is likely to fall.
Ask they if they fell before and where. Or ask about dangerous situations in their home. - The button is water proof so don't worry placing it close to a source of water.
Frequently Asked Questions |
My lanyard is too long.
The lanyard can be too long for some people and have an impact on the button that might be more likely to be pressed by accident. You can contact Jane support to get a lanyard button stop which will help you reduce the size of the lanyard.
Do you have a bracelet to wear the buttons?
The buttons can also be carried on your wrist. For this we have bracelets available. Contact our support to request a bracelet.
How do I use the double-sided tape?
Take the double-sided tape out of the box. Peel a piece of tape from the plastic and stick it to the button. Peel away the plastic on the other side of the tape and stick the button against a surface.
My button doesn't come off the wall anymore.
The double-sided tape uses a strong adhesive so the heavy buttons and sensors would stick for a long enough time to your surface. If you want to remove or move the button, you can peel the button from the wall very slow and gentle. A knife can come in handy to speed things up. Just mind that you don't scratch the surface.
Is the button water-proof?
The buttons are IP67, which means you shouldn't worry taking the button into the shower or bath tub. The button can endure being submerged in water for up to 30 minutes.
